LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Little Rock police said they have arrested a person in connection with four armed robberies at convenience stores on Saturday.
According to Sgt. Cassandra Davis, police took John Wesley Tillman into custody at the Exxon at the corner of John Barron Road and Colonel Glenn Road. She said he will be charged with seven counts of robbery, six counts of theft of property, three additional misdemeanor charges of theft and one count of possession of a controlled substance.
According to the police report, a man wearing blue, zippered jacket and black jeans walked into the Mapco at 2715 65th Street around 5 a.m. Saturday. He then threatened the cashier with a knife and demanded money. He took the cash from the register, but walked away after the cashier tried unsuccessfully to open the safe.
Less than an hour later, police said Tillman allegedly came into the Shell station at 4111 University. According to the police report, he said "Hello" before brandishing his knife and grabbing the cashier by the jacket and made him open the register. The report indicated that Tillman then got into an unknown car and drove off.
A separate report stated a clerk at a Valero gas station located at 6421 S. University was robbed about 12:30 p.m. The victim said Tillman had a handgun and knife with him. That night around 8:30 p.m., a similar incident happened at the Super Stop on the 6800 block of Colonel Glenn. The clerk told police that a man walked in, threatened the victim with a knife, then dragged him near the door and escaped.
Tillman made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. Witnesses say they saw him enter the store, but he did not act suspicious.
The investigation is ongoing.
