Difference between flu and norovirus

    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- A new strain of the norovirus stomach bug is sweeping the United States. And doctors say it's easy to catch.

    Young children, the elderly and people with other medical conditions are most at risk. But what's the difference between the flu and the norovirus and how do you prevent it?

    Dr. Virgincita Fuentes from UAMS explained more on "THV 11 News This Morning."

    Norovirus symptoms:

    • Nausea
    • Vomiting
    • Diarrhea
    • Stomach cramping
    • Fever
    • Chills
    • Headache
    • Muscle aches
    • Tiredness

    Flu symptoms (Flu.gov):
    • A 100 degree or higher fever or feeling feverish (not everyone with the flu has a fever)
    • A cough and/or sore throat
    • A runny or stuffy nose
    • Headaches and/or body aches
    • Chills
    • Fatigue
    • Nausea, vomiting, and/or diarrhea (most common in children)
