American Kennel Club announces most popular dogs

    UNDATED (AP) -- Labs are still top dogs. The American Kennel Club says the Labrador Retriever is the nation's most popular dog for the 22nd straight year.

    American Kennel Club's 2012 Popular Breed List

    That's according to the AKC top 10 list released Wednesday. The German Shepherd still commands the number-two spot. The Golden Retriever noses out the Beagle for third.

    The AKC says some pint-sized pooches make the list, too. The Beagle is now hounding fourth. Here's the rest of the top 10 pack: Bulldog, Yorkshire Terrier, Boxer, Poodle, Rottweiler and Dachshund.
