CONWAY, Ark. (KTHV) -- Officer William McGary, the policeman who died from injuries sustained in a wreck while on duty, was from Searcy.
Many of his friends spent Friday thinking about positive memories. THV 11's Lauren Scott visited with one of those friends, and they said Officer McGary was one of the nicest people you'd ever meet. Even as a high schooler, he was all about helping others.
"Will is a super nice guy, he's great to be around," Hunter Bryam is staying positive about his friend Will McGary. "Day or night, no matter what the case, you can count on him to be there for ya."
Byram pointed out that McGary's injuries came from helping others, which is something he wanted to do all his life.
"Seeing him going out on a daily basis, putting his life on the line, serving his community; I could always see Will being in that position and that's what he loves to do," he said.
Officer McGary served Conway as a police officer for almost two years.
The man accused of striking him with another vehicle is currently being held in lieu of $150,000 bond.
