LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Five years ago on Feb. 5, 2008, tornadoes ripped through north-central Arkansas leaving death and destruction in its wake.

The Weather Channel says the "Super Tuesday" outbreak cut a swath across 10 states on Feb. 5-6, 2008.

Ten tornadoes killed 57 people with 13 deaths here in Arkansas.

The most notable in Arkansas, according to the Weather Channel, was an "EF4 tornado that tore a 122-mile track across north-central Arkansas, killing 13 people and injuring 139. This was the longest single tornado track in Arkansas since detailed tornado records began in 1950."

The Weather Channel severe weather expert Dr. Greg Forbes ranks this tornado outbreak as the seventh deadly in U.S. history.
