SEARCY, Ark. (KTHV) - A visitation is being held for a Conway police officer who was killed while on duty by a drunk driver.
Officer William McGary was struck by a vehicle while directing traffic Jan. 30. He died the next day just after 5 p.m. of his injuries.
The family is holding a visitation from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. at Valley Baptist Church in Searcy. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Valley Baptist Church with a graveside service to follow in Romance, Arkansas.
Barry Strickland, 31, was charged for hitting and killing McGary and is now charged with first degree batter, DWI-drugs, careless or unsafe driving, and disobeying a police officer. Strickland is being held on $150,000 bond.
