CONWAY, Ark. (KTHV) - Tuesday is an emotional day for the Searcy and Conway communities as they come together to mourn the loss of Conway officer and Searcy native Will McGary.

The parking lot at Valley Baptist Church, where officer McGary's family attends,  is starting to fill up across the street. The visitation started at 6 p.m. Officer McGary died Friday after being hit while directing traffic.

Today, his fellow comrades saluted the friends and family as they drove into the parking lot. Church officials said the honor guard will also greet the grieving family as they walk in.

People who didn't even know officer Mcgary are paying their respects.

The church is also providing golf carts in case there is an overflow of people. This church can fit 1,500 people. The chief deputy expects this will be the largest visitation he's ever attended.

McGary was only 26 years old. He worked two years in Conway but was from Searcy and had many passions including grilling, hunting, fishing, racing, and all sports--especially baseball. He was also an avid Razorbacks fan.

The visitation goes until 9 p.m. Extra parking will be available at the Willow Wind on 3353 West Highway 36 just west of Valley Baptist Church. Anyone who parks in that area will be shuttled to the church. Visitors are asked to not park on the black top area.
