PINE BLUFF, Ark. (Feb. 9, 2013) - Jefferson Regional Medical Center (JRMC) invites children 12 and under to bring their parents to a free Valentine event today, February 9. It's called 'Art From the Heart.'

Participants can play games, enjoy sweet treats, make Valentine's cards, and create artwork that will be judged for terrific prizes.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on the first floor of the Jefferson Professional Center II at 40th and Mulberry in Pine Bluff.

There will be activities inside and out, including inflatables, carnival games, contests such as jumping rope and hula hooping, Valentine candy and four art stations. Each station will be equipped with supplies for different item: A Valentine's Day card for family, a Valentine's Day card for a friend, a Valentine's Day card for a patient at JRMC, and a piece of original artwork that will be displayed at JPC II for judging by employees and members of the public.

On Tuesday, February 12, JRMC employees will vote on their favorite artwork during an afternoon Valentine's party, and members of the public will vote that evening during a community reception. Winners will be chosen in three age groups, and one boy and one girl from each category will receive a $100 gift card.

On Thursday, February 14, members of JRMC's Youth Ambassadors, a teen volunteer group, will deliver the Valentine's Day cards to patients at JRMC and in area nursing homes.

JRMC is the fourth largest hospital in the state, serving 280,000 residents in eleven counties of Southeast Arkansas.
