SEARCY, Ark. (KTHV) - A man accused of killing a Searcy is woman has been charged with first-degree murder.
According to Police Chief Jeremy Clark, Kelon Jackson was arrested on Feb. 15 for the charge of first-degree murder in the death of Mahala Hutchins, 24.
According to a press release from the Searcy Police Dept., officers responded to St. Charles Apartments, 404 S. Sherwood Drive, on Friday. When they arrived, they found Hutchins lying in the street with what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds.
Searcy police said Jackson was arrested in North Little Rock on an outstanding warrant of 'terroristic threatening,' which was not related to Hutchins' murder.
Clark said Jackson will be taken to the White County Detention Center from North Little Rock and held in lieu of $500,000 bond.
The court date for this case is still pending.
