West Lafayette, Ind. - The No. 52 University of Arkansas men's tennis team defeated No. 71 Purdue, 4-3 on Saturday afternoon at the Schwartz Tennis Center. The Razorbacks improve their record to 11-3 while Purdue drops to 9-3.
"Another great duel match today," Head Coach Robert Cox said. "I am so proud of the guys for fighting hard. It is always difficult to win on the road."

The match began with all three doubles courts in close matches. Junior Hall Fess and freshman Santiago Munoz collected the first doubles win for the Hogs with an 8-6 win over Pawel Poziomski and Mark Kovacs on court three. The senior duo of Mike Ward and Gregoire Lehmann clinched the doubles point with an 8-7 victory over Krisztian Krocsko and Szymon Tatarczyk on court two to give Arkansas the 1-0 lead.

Singles play was just as competitive as doubles with Purdue taking the first two singles points. Ward dropped his match on court three to Acosta and Lehmann fell on court one to Tatarczyk to give Purdue the 2-1 edge.

The Hogs responded with back-to-back victories by Nott and Jeske. Nott collected his seventh singles victory of the season with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Acosta. Jeske followed with a three-set win over Kovacs on court two put Arkansas up 3-2.

Sophomore Victor Hoang battled in a three-set match to eventually defeat Dujovne 3-6, 7-6, 7-5 to give Arkansas the 4-2 lead and clinching the victory for the Hogs.

"Victor saved six match points," Coach Cox said. "He really did pull off an incredible win today to clinch the match for us."

Fess closed out the match for the Razorbacks with an exhausting three-set tiebreaker on court six. Fess dropped the match 6-7, 7-6, 6-7 to Krocsko.
