LUXOR, Egypt (CBS) -- A hot air balloon crash in Egypt has killed at least eighteen tourists but there are some survivors.

Rescuers carried away a body from the scene of the crash in Egypt's ancient city of Luxor. A hot air balloon carrying at least twenty tourists caught fire and plunged into a sugar cane field.

At least eighteen tourists died.

Egyptian security officials say an explosion in a gas canister forced the balloon 1-thousand feet to the ground.

A U.S. photographer snapped photos before several groups of tourists took flight to see some of Luxor's famous sights.

Authorities say no Americans were riding in the balloon that went down.

Three people, including the balloon's pilot survived; they reportedly jumped out of the balloon before it crashed.

Hot air balloon crashes have happened in Luxor before. Sixteen people were hurt four years ago when a balloon came down after hitting a communications tower.
