LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The Arkansas Supreme Court says the country's first Marshallese court interpreter will be sworn in in Little Rock.

The state's highest court says Melisa Laelan of Springdale will be the first person in the U.S. to be sworn in as a certified Marshallese interpreter.

Chief Justice Jim Hannah is scheduled to administer an oath to Laelan and two Spanish court interpreters on Thursday at the Justice Building.

Arkansas has the largest concentration of Marshall Islanders in the continental U.S.
