LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Former Little Rock police officer charged with manslaughter pleaded not guilty in court Thursday morning.
Josh Hastings is charged in the August 2012 shooting death of a 15-year-old. Police say Hastings shot Bobby Moore Jr. while responding to a burglary call.
Hastings was fired for violating department policies related to the case in October. He is still out on bond, and his attorneys say their plan is to plead not guilty and get a trial.
He was formally charged with manslaughter in Jan.
At Thursday's hearing, some of Moore's family members wore a tshirts that read 'Killed by a Little Rock Police Officer.' His family hoped Hastings would plead guilty during the hearing.
Hastings' trial is scheduled for June 18-20; a pre-trial hearing is set for May 20.
THV 11's Dustin Wilson is in the courtroom and reports that a woman was arrested after allegedly spitting on Hastings. He'll have more from the courtroom on "THV 11 News at 6."
