NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Authorities are warning Arkansans about a 'robo-call' scam that is happening across the area.

North Little Rock Police Sgt. Brian Dedrick said some people in Central Arkansas have received phone calls in which the person calling says the resident's debit or credit cards had been canceled. The message, which is automated, has a message similar to the one below:

"Your debit card has been deactivated. To reactivate, press 1..."

Banks in the area are aware of the scam and are attempting to notify their customers of it.

Dedrick warns people to be aware of the dialing scam, which is originating out of Florida, and to hang up the phone if a call of this nature is received.
