PLEASANT PLAINS, Ark. (KTHV) - Police in Independence County are currently investigating a shooting out of Pleasant Plains.
Independence County Sheriff Steve Jeffery said officers found a 55-year-old man's body lying at the front door of the home they were dispatched to. The man had an apparent gunshot wound to the abdomen.
Jeffery said that the person of interest in the shooting, a 51-year-old man, was found outside at the corner of two intersecting streets.
The shooting appeared to be a family dispute that ended horribly.
The person of interest was taken into police custody and is being held at the Independence County Jail. The victim's body was sent to the Arkansas Medical Examiner's Office for examination.
