NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department plans a public meeting for the end of the month to unveil design plans for the Broadway Bridge connecting Little Rock and North Little Rock.
The meeting is planned for 4 p.m. March 28 at the Arkansas Transit Association in North Little Rock. The meeting runs until 7 p.m. and members of the public are encourage to drop in any time.
The highway department wants to replace the Broadway Bridge and is now considering design options. The current bridge opened in 1923 and carries an estimated daily traffic of 24,000 vehicles.
Construction on the new bridge is expected to begin this year. The current bridge connects downtown Little Rock and North Little Rock and is heavily used during rush hour.
