NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Police have a man in custody who allegedly crawled under a North Little Rock home to steal copper pipes.
The homeowner of the residence on the 1400 block of Eureka Gardens Road called police after they saw someone crawl from the crawlspace under the house. Two other witnesses tell police they saw him, too, and followed the suspect as he ran into the nearby woods.
When police arrived they used a K9 unit to search the woods when they found the suspect Shawn Haynie. Back at the home they found a large backpack with cut off copper pipes in it. Also found more copper pipe pieces near the crawlspace.
The homeowner estimated about $5,000 worth of damage was done to his home.
Haynie is charged with first degree criminal mischief, theft of property, and criminal trespassing.
