NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - An 18-wheeler truck caught fire at McCain Mall in North Little Rock Monday morning.
NLR Police Sgt. Brian Dedrick said the truck was located in the parking lot of Dillard's, near the department store. Crews were first dispatched at 11:41 a.m., when an emergency call came in reporting that a truck was on fire, according to NLR Fire Chief Phil Pounders.
Pounders said the driver had unloaded some items from the truck and was securing the door and liftgate when he noticed smoke coming from the front. The driver took his cellphone from the vehicle and called for help. When crews arrived on scene, the cab of the truck was fully involved, Pounders said. Firefighters used water and foam to control the flames; the fire was out within 30 minutes.
No one was injured during the incident and the truck involved sustained the only damage.
Pounders said the fire started in the cab of the truck, but it will not be determined what caused it to ignite.
