MAYFLOWER, Ark. (KTHV) -- The cleanup continues in Faulkner County after one neighborhood was left surrounded by crude oil last week.

THV 11 toured the Northwoods subdivision in Mayflower, along with environmental officials and County Judge Allen Dodson. They are making progress and were cleaning up the streets while we were there.

The neighborhood has been evacuated since an oil pipeline that runs through it ruptured Friday afternoon.

Dodson said residents will be allowed to return home in phases, but he couldn't give an exact time table yet.

"The one thing I want to avoid doing is guessing wrong. I don't want to put a guess out there and tell people something then blow a deadline. That's unfair to them. I understand that that's frustrating," said Dodson.

There is a lot of talk about what kind of substance was leaked, but we've been assured that it is heavy crude oil out of Canada, and people outside the Northwoods neighborhood are not at risk. Not all air quality tests, though, are complete.
