MAYFLOWER, Ark. (KTHV) - The Federal Aviation Administration issued flying restrictions for the area surrounding last week's oil spill in Mayflower.
According to the FAA's website, the Mayflower region is instructed to have 'no pilots operate an aircraft' below 1,000 feet above the ground. This includes a five nautical mile radius of the Pine Village Airport near Mayflower.
This order was issued Wednesday, April 3 and is in effect until further notice. The type of temporary fly restriction listed is 'hazard.'
An ExxonMobil pipeline ruptured in Mayflower late Friday afternoon, sending oil flowing through the area and evacuating 22 homes.
