MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. (AP) - Baxter County authorities are reinstalling jail beds after the county's quorum court approved an additional $143,500 to pay for law enforcement.

The Baxter County Quorum Court signed off on the additional appropriation Tuesday night and workers started putting the beds back on Wednesday.

The sheriff's office removed 58 beds late last year to ensure that the county wouldn't be forced to take in inmates that it couldn't afford to house. Sheriff John Montgomery tells Mountain Home radio station KTLO (http://is.gd/11YdI4 ) that he hopes the jail will be back at full capacity by the end of the week.

Montgomery says budget cuts had forced the sheriff's office to stop routine patrols and business checks. He says the additional funding approved this week will allow deputies to resume those patrols.
