LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Downtown leaders kicked off a pedestrian safety awareness campaign Monday morning at the corner of 3rd and Louisiana streets, located near the E-Stem school system.
Pedestrians downtown are on the rise and so is traffic. That's why the Mayor of Little Rock is asking all drivers to become more aware of their surroundings.
"We need to pay attention; We need to be aware that many, many people walk these sidewalks. We want to keep them safe," said Mayor Mike Stodola.
Stodola, along with members of the Main Street Revitalization Committee, also encouraged others to get out and enjoy downtown. The city said they will feature four other downtown locations for special importance to pedestrians and drivers later this month.
