LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- As the oil spill clean-up continues in Mayflower, Exxon reached out to the city's elementary school with a $15,000 donation.

Superintendent John Gray confirmed the contribution is for the school's Parent Teacher Organization and that the parent organization officially agreed to accept it Tuesday. Gray said he feels the donation can help out and is a blessing for the school.

"I think it's a positive thing. I know this whole procedure was an inconvenience or a nuisance to that school. A lot of those children were affected negatively some directly, some indirectly." Gray explained.

Gray said the association plans to use some of the money for a rewards day program for students later this week, following benchmark exams.
