MAUMELLE, Ark. (KTHV) - A lightning strike from Wednesday night's severe storms caused a house to catch fire in Maumelle.

The home is located in the Valley Estates neighborhood. A Maumelle firefighter said the flames were started by a lightning strike, but nobody was hurt. The home is left severely damaged by fire, and its neighboring home has water damage.

"They (the firefighters) saved the other three houses pretty much," said neighbor Connor Jones. "I think it struck right here in the middle. There used to be like a peak right there and it's not there now."

Jones says the family in the house that caught fire called his house to let them know there was a fire; everyone escaped without any injuries.
