#42 Jackie Robinson Remembered On Barrier Breaking Anniversary

Not only is today Jackie Robinson Day, but the Jackie Robinson baseball movie 42 hit a home run with fans over the weekend.

The movie came in number one at the box office over the weekend, earning more than $27 million.

Today marks the 66th anniversary of Robinson breaking major league baseball's color barrier. He opened the door for generations to follow. In 1986, African-Americans made up 19 percent of players in the majors, but now that number is down to just about 8.5 percent.

Baseball greats hope this movie will encourage more African-Americans to take an interest in America's pastime.
