LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Local Arkansas authorities and the Drug Enforcement Administration are encouraging people to drop off their unneeded medications at prescription drug take-back sites this upcoming Saturday, April 27.
The 6th annual Drug Take-Back is aimed at keeping unused medications off the streets and out of the reach of children.
During the last series of drives in Arkansas, there were more than 12,000 pounds of pills collected. Arkansas ranks fourth in the country when it comes to the amount of pills collected during drug take-back drives.
However, the drives aren't the only time Arkansans can dispose of unused and unwanted prescription medication. Because of the drives' popularity, permanent drug drop-off locations have been established in each county.
