LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - This week marked a year since our furry buddy at THV 11, Joey the Garden Cat, had surgery to remove a tumor from his leg.
He ventured to Russellville on Tuesday for a one-year check up. Here's what Dr. Terry Dew with Azzore Veterinary Specialists had to say:
"Yesterday Joey came in for his one year post-op recheck and we took x-rays and did a CT Scan. I'm happy to report that the results are really good. There is no indication of tumor.
Here are Joey's x-rays. (In the video.) This was immediately post-op. And this was yesterday. You can see that we've got new bone formation and no evidence of tumor recurrence.
That shows up even better on the CT Scan. Here's the CT Scan prior to tumor removal. So, there's the tumor. Here's the CT Scan after we took the tumor out. You can see where we actually took away this cortical bone. Now yesterday, we can see that the same area has filled in nicely with the graft and that the body is actually remaking a new cortex.
So, Joey is doing as good as we can ask for. We expect to see him back next year for another good recheck."
