LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- A police association gave $75,000 to the Bella Vista, Benton and Jacksonville Police Departments to help them promote seat belt use and keep drivers safe.
Mom and Injury Prevention specialist Hope Mullins said after her daughter survived a car crash because of a seat belt, she realized how important programs like this are.
"It takes everyone doing the right thing. My daughter, my family, [and] I can be doing the safe thing, but if other drivers aren't out there doing the safe thing, wearing their seatbelts, putting their cell phones down, then it's going to impact us. So, definitely the message is a seat belt will save your life if you take the moment to put it on," she explained.
Police departments plan to roll out programs this month to let drivers know the importance of seat belts. Those programs will run for the next 6 months.
