FAULKNER COUNTY, Ark. (KTHV) - A Conway dentist has found himself in trouble with the law and has been charged with first-degree terroristic threatening.
"That's kind of scary right there isn't it? He always seemed pretty nice to me," said Dusty Hodge.
Conway chiropractor, Dusty Hodge, works next door to Larry Fincher's dentist office. Hodge said while the two mainly just shared occasional small talk, he is still surprised by what he learned Thursday.
"I saw him on Monday. Monday evening, when I was leaving work, probably about 5," he recalled.
Just three days after Hodge last saw Fincher, his employees told him the dentist had been arrested.
"Just kind of shocked I guess," said Hodge.
According to the affidavit, 'Fincher sent a letter to the Department of Finance and Administration in rebuttal to a delinquent tax notice. The letter sent indicated that he would cause death and serious physical injuries to those who attempted to come and collect or remove him from his business.'
"Anytime you have a situation where a public official is threatened, we certainly take that very seriously," said Cody Hiland.
Hiland is the prosecuting attorney of the Twentieth Judicial District of Arkansas. He said after reviewing information from state police, he decided terroristic threatening charges were warranted.
"I understand the frustration that people can have related to taxes and government in general, I understand that, but we live in a civilized society, and we can't allow our response to that frustration to be threatening to kill public officials," he explained.
The arrest left many Conway residents in utter shock.
"That's kindly odd for Conway. We usually don't have much trouble like this down here," said one resident.
