LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Dangyong Yang, the father of Leo Yang, said he has returned to work to provide income and health insurance for his son.
Leo Yang remains in a coma after he and his mother slid into an icy pond while driving in January. Jinglei Yi, Leo's mother, died as a result of the accident.
"I just take it day by day," said Yang.
Doctors allowed Leo to go home, but Yang said soon thereafter he moved Leo to the Arkansas Pediatric Facility in North Little Rock.
Yang said he rented his home and moved to an apartment near the facility to be close to his son.
As a result of the incident, the city of Little Rock has installed piping underneath the pavement at the intersection of Rushmore and Cooper-Orbit, the scene of the accident.
A representative with the Little Rock Public Works department said they believe water seeped thought the pavement, causing icy patches.
Yang said he is happy the city is taking actions to prevent another tragedy at the intersection.
"This will prevent the other people from sliding on black ice, but for my wife and my family it is too late," said Yang.
