    HogZone News:

UNDATED (KTHV) -- Tyler Wilson is making a good impression in Oakland during rookie camp. Could it mean he's in line for the starting gig at quarterback? We'll have to wait and see.

Until then, he's definitely doing his part to earn that spot and control the Raiders' offense. Wilson has always been comfortable out on the gridiron, and that confidence is helping him at the newest stage of his career.

"I do think I can bring some things to the table skill-set wise. But again, I gotta play catch up at this point. I'm going to use this as an opportunity and compete like heck for sure," explained Wilson.

The Oakland Raiders selected Wilson in the fourth round of this year's NFL draft, and despite the "rookie" title, Wilson has a good shot at the starting job at quarterback, which he credits to his work at Arkansas.

"We were very much pro style at Arkansas. But, there are three or four different offenses in the NFL, and we were kind of the other side of the west coast. We were very much NOT west coast at Arkansas. We were doing multiple formations, multiple sets, motions and a lot of language in the huddle, but it was different set of verbiage," he added.

Wilson is trying to keep his head clear and not get caught up in the excitement of pro-style play.

"There's a lot that goes into it. How you mesh with the other guys, and how you are around the facility...I knew they'd throw a lot at you. They're wanting to see how you can handle the intensity. How when they get on you, how you handle it...And, I thought this has been a big step for me for sure."

Only time will tell if his hard work pays off once fall ball rolls around. For now, Wilson is focused on going above and beyond each time he steps on the field.

"I've got a lot of work to do there to get up to speed. Because there's been veteran guys that have been here that are way ahead of me there. So, I'm playing catch up from that point ...It's an opportunity and obviously there's a lot I have to learn."
