CONWAY, Ark. (KTHV) -- All this week, law enforcement agencies around Arkansas are remembering fallen comrades apart of this year's National Police Week.
So far this year, four officers have been killed while on duty in Arkansas. That puts us second in the nation behind California.
"We have to be diligent everyday to utilize training in dealing with these kinds of people," explained Pulaski County Sheriff Doc Halladay as he spoke about the increase on attacks on officers.
The Pulaski County Sheriff's Office added the name of Chief Deputy Barney Stiel to their memorial Tuesday. Stiel was killed in the line of duty in 1911, and research efforts helped recognize his sacrifice to his community.
A memorial will be held Wednesday in Faulkner County for two fallen officers---William McGary, of the Conway Police Department and Deputy Hans Fifer, of the Faulkner County Sheriff's Office.
