LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Police have arrested the man thought to be responsible for the Metropolitan Bank robbery Tuesday morning.

According to Lt. Carl Minden, Jeremy Heavner, 35, of Hensley, was arrested for one count of robbery and one count of theft of property after he told police he walked into the bank on Arch Street wearing a black hoodie and bandana and committed a robbery around 9:00.

Minden said Heavner took two large stacks of US currency totaling $5,494 and left the bank.

Heavner was booked into the Pulaksi County Regional Detention Facility. Police did not immediately say when he is due in court.

As it turns out, Heavner has been a firefighter for the Bryant Fire Department for the past two years. Chief J.P. Jordan said Heavner was placed on administrative leave, and they will wait and see how things play out in court before making a decision on his future.
