Sue Evers of New Mexico pretends to be singer Alison Krauss; defrauds man out of $40K

    FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (5NEWS) - THV 11's CBS affiliate 5NEWS in northwest Arkansas reports that a woman accused of pretending to be a famous singer and defrauding a man out of thousands of dollars was arrested.

    According to 5NEWS, Sue Evers, a 52-year-old New Mexico woman, was arrested on suspicion of abuse of an endangered or impaired person after pretending to be country singer Alison Krauss.

    Police told 5NEWS that Evers convinced a 75-year-old Arkansas man that she was in fact the famous singer. During the time of the alleged crime, the man's bank account dropped from $45,000 to $5,000 and he even signed his $245,000 house over to Evers.
