LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Arson is suspected of killing a husband and wife in Little Rock early Wednesday morning.

Cassandra Davis with Little Rock Police said fire department investigators determined a fire at 405 Markwood Road was a result of arson. The deaths of Donald Creer, 50, and Donna Creer, 57, are now considered 'suspicious.'

Firefighters were dispatched to the home about 3:11 a.m. Once on scene, they removed both bodies, which were taken to area hospitals. Both Donald and Donna were pronounced dead at their respective hospitals. Davis said there did not appear to be injuries to the victims, but a cause of death has not been determined.

"I'm not really at liberty to say what evidence leads us to believe that the deaths are suspicious, but we are investigating to determine what occurred inside the house," said Davis.

While on scene, firefighters also noticed a sliding glass door at the back of the house that was unlocked. At this time, Davis said it is unclear what occurred inside the residence, but police do not suspect the fire to be accidental. Firefighters and police have not determined a motive or suspects in this case.

"He was the ying for her yang. They complemented each other very well," said Reverend Clarence Thornton, a pastor and radio disc jockey in Arkansas. "Donna was the public one, and he was more of the private."

Thornton and Donna Creer worked together at Power 92 FM from 1993 to 2005. He said from 2005-2009, they worked together for Hallelujah FM. Each of these stations are based out of Little Rock. Additionally, he said she worked by day on the Magnet Review Committee for the Little Rock School District.

"Thoughtful, kind, considerate. She was always thinking of others before thinking of herself," said Rev. Thornton. "She never said bad words about anybody. She was always considerate."

Rev. Thornton also told THV 11 that Donald Creer, her husband, was a flight attendant for Southwest Airlines and that the two had no children. He had been friends with the Creers for more than 20 years.

"I was close with her husband as well. Donald. He was an energetic type guy. We would go walking together," Thornton recalled. "In the mornings we were both trying to lose weight, and at 5 o'clock in the morning, he would pick me up, and he's like 'Good Morning, Reverend! Good Morning!' And, I'm like 'Really? It's 5 o'clock in the morning.'"

Thornton said that in addition to being a flight attendant, Donald Creer was also an opera singer.
