DREW COUNTY, Ark. (KTHV) - A woman was caught with a quarter pound when police stopped her following a near collision.
Drew County Deputies said Misty Martin, of Monticello, was pulled over after veering into another lane and almost hitting another car. Martin told police that she had veered into the other lane because she was trying to stop her child from unbuckling the backseat, but police said they noticed a strong smell of pot coming from inside the car.
While her car was being searched, police said they noticed the edge of a clear, plastic baggie sticking out of the front of her shorts. They said it turned out to be a bag full of a green, leafy substance; in addition, they found another bag in one of her pockets.
Police said they also found a set of digital scales and some more marijuana in her car.
Martin was taken to the Drew County Detention Facility where she was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Failure to use Turn Signal and Improper Lane Change.
She was taken for her first appearance before Circuit Judge Glover on June 11. He set her bond at $1,500 commercial.
There was no word on who was given temporary custody of the child.
