STUTTGART, Ark. (KTHV) - Several people in and around Stuttgart have reported that tornado sirens have gone off several times in the area, and others have even reported seeing funnel clouds coming down from the sky.
Journeyman forecaster Charles Dalton with the National Weather Service said the radar signature for the showers in the area was not supportive of any tornadic activity, and Arkansas County coordinators confirm that no damage occurred.
He said that given the circumstances of everything involved in Monday night's confusion, he felt that the funnels reported were cold core funnels, and added that cold cores were also reported in the Missouri Bootheel during the same time frame.
When asked why the tornado sirens had been turned on in the area, the Stuttgart Police Department gave no comment. Other law enforcement agencies and the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management could not be reached.
