SCOTT COUNTY, Ark, (KTHV) - A case of bird flu has put a ban on Arkansas poultry in parts of Asia and two states here in the U.S.
5NEWS reported that state officials said the outbreak has been isolated and contained, and they wait now for further tests over the next few months to prove it. But, while we wait, Governor Mike Beebe is worried about the impact the ban might have on state's poultry industry especially since China is considering joining the ban.
"That's really disheartening especially because one of the things I did visiting China last year was convince them to open up for Arkansas poultry. So a little incident like this can have a dramatic effect," explained Beebe.
Beebe said he will work to show this is just an isolated incident on one farm while they wait for negative tests to return.
