LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Firefighters worked what they call a suspicious fire at Forest Place Apartments into the early hours this morning.

Fire crews were sent out to the apartment complex, located off University, just after midnight.

Captain Randy Hickmon with the Little Rock Fire Department says crews put out a fire on the first floor in the south building. He also says this is the seventh fire at the apartment complex this year alone.

"We have some reports that it started inside a hallway but our investigators are here looking into it," he says.

Captain Hickmon says it only took crews about 20 minutes to put out the fire but for safety precautions they did evacuate the whole building because it was full of smoke.

None of the residents were injured though a few firefighters were treated for exhaustion.

This is one of several fires in the past month at Forest Place Apartments.

Allyson Pittman, a resident, said she plans to move out and feels slighted by a lack of communication from management.

"From day to day taking care of people they did not take care of their tenants. I went in multiple times to complain. I haven't had air conditioning for the past two weeks no one really seemed to care and now they won't even talk to you," said Pittman.

In a emailed statement the President of Maxus Properties, the owner of the complex, said:

"We are actively engaging in steps to both determine the cause or causes of the fires experienced this year and to do everything we can to both prevent fires from occurring and to put systems and equipment in place to protect our residents when and if fires do occur," said Michael McRobert.

The complex says they're offering a $35,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
