LONDON, UK (CBS) -- The royal baby watch is on. With the birth of Prince William and Kate's first child weeks, or even days away, interest around the world is growing. The heir to the throne's imminent arrival is affecting everything from London traffic to global betting markets.
Outside the London hospital where Catherine will give birth, the sidewalk has already been divvied up by photographers and cameramen staking out positions for that iconic moment when the royal baby is first presented to the world just like Charles and Diana did with Prince William.
Parking spaces nearby have already been set aside for Catherine and her entourage.
The government of Finland sent over a kit all expectant mothers in the Nordic country receive including baby clothes, bedding, and even a condom.
Those curious about what a royal nursery might look like can book this luxury suite at Grosvenor House designed by the same firm that created nurseries for William and Harry. Grosvenor House director of public relations Lorna O'Neill said, "So even some of the details on the artwork really pull out elements of the history of our hotel and the fact that it's fit for a royal baby."
Gamblers too have gotten into the action. Most seem to think Kate will give birth on July 13 to a brown haired girl.
And they are betting that the baby will be named either Alexandra or Charlotte. The name William is a surprising long shot at 40 to 1, as is Fergie is 500 to 1 odds.
Pregame.com founder RJ Bell said, "You can bet what will the name of the baby's eventual first boyfriend or girlfriend be? So you're betting way into the future, and the favorite on that is Robert, and it make sense since they expect the baby to be a girl."
Proof that when it comes to the public's fascination with the royals, all bets are off.
