LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -The fourth of July along with sports, Hollywood, and Morrilton had a big impact on this week's edition of Winners & Losers.
Lone Ranger is a loser. Even though it made $48.9 million at the box office, it is way below what Disney expected. This had the same team that did the Pirates of the Caribbean treasure chest. You can't just turn Captain Jack into Tonto and expect instant success.
Sports in Britain are winners. When Andy Murray won the men's single championship over the weekend, it once again suggested that sports in England are on the incline. Remember, they won 65 medals in last year's summer Olympics. Now they have a Wimbeldon champ for the first time since 1936. Sports is putting the Great in Great Britain.
Raznick Nazaryan joins the list of winners. The California artist produced old glory from cars with a gloried past. It was 75 feet high and 19 feet long.
To anyone who had a dud on the fourth of July, you know what the Russian space program went through last week. The rocket that was supposed to carry communication satellites never made it, making it a loser. The failure was shown on live TV in Russia.
From Moscow to Morrilton: Morrilton quilters are winners. About 15 women got together to produce 70 quilts with patriotic themes and presented them to veterans this Fourth of July.
This next one isn't so sweet. Red flag universities and colleges in Arkansas are losers. These are schools where the loan default rate is greater than the graduation rate. Over 260 schools nationwide suffer from this predicament.
