    Ex-legislator Tracy Steele to lead Youth Services

    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Former legislator Tracy Steele has been hired to run the state Division of Youth Services.

    Department of Human Services Director John Selig said Monday that Steele is a good fit for the position due to his record of working on issues that affect young people.

    The Division of Youth Services runs a variety of programs for juvenile offenders. Steele is to begin the post on Aug. 5.

    When in the House and the Senate, Steele was chairman of committees that oversee the division's operations.

    The division has eight facilities and contracts with community programs across the state to provide services to those in the juvenile system.

    Steele also led has the Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission and The STAND Foundation. Both focus on helping underprivileged youths.

    He'll earn $100,077 annually.
