NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Regal Cinemas at the McCain Mall in North Little Rock has applied for a permit to sell beer and wine.
"Honestly I don't really like it in a kid's setting. Maybe in a bar setting, but not in a place where kids go to enjoy movies," said Jacob Williams, a person who attends movies.
"If they want to have a drink in the cinema, I think it would be ok," said Mason Nickens, another movie-goer.
City officials said management told them the beverages would be sold at the concession stand. They told officials wrist bands would be placed on patrons to ensure they are age 21 and over.
"As of right now, I don't have any information," said Chief Mike Davis with the North Little Rock Police Department.
Chief Davis said he wants more details on how the operation will work.
"My concern was: I can go and purchase something and come back and hand it off to somebody else," said Chief Davis.
Davis said he talked to someone with corporate management, but said he wants to talk to the local management.
"And, he explained that they have ushers who go through the theater, and maybe that can work, but I kind of want to see first before I say 'Yes. We're ok with this," said Chief Davis. He added that management advised him patrons would be limited to no more than three drinks.
The chief formally objected the license application due to a lack of information. The permit will now go before a board for approval.
