LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Her recovery has been called amazing, and she's still fighting every single day. Kali is remaining positive, according to her mom, Traci Hardig.
Last week, Kali was taken off the ventilator and is breathing on her own. Friday afternoon, Kali's mom said Kali is working hard in physical therapy. She's now able to move her legs to kick a ball, or even catch it.
"She keeps reassuring us 'wanna go home,' and we know she wants to go home, so everything we tell her, 'We've got to practice this; we've got to practice physical therapy. We've got to practice you swallowing. We've got to practice different things, and we can get these other tubes out and that way, one day you can get to go home,' and she'll shake her head, yes," Traci explained.
Kali has also received several visitors ranging from family to teachers, and some school friends.
As THV 11 has reported in the past, Kali's mom, Traci is battling Stage 4 breast cancer. This week, doctors discovered a new spot on her liver, so she's getting ready to begin another round of chemotherapy. But she said she's confident that both her and Kali will make a full recovery.
Traci expressed her deep thanks and appreciation to everyone who's shown Kali so much support.
