DUNCAN, OK (CBS/KWTV) -- Police are investigating a cold blooded killing in Duncan, Oklahoma that has shocked and disgusted residents. The alleged motive is "a thrill kill." Now, 3 teenagers are charged with the murder of Christopher Lane- an East Central University baseball player.
The savage act is a shock to neighbors. The reason why Christopher Lane was shot to death in broad daylight while out for a jog is plain puzzling to police. Duncan police say the shooters saw the man on the street and chose him as a target.
Police say alleged killers, 15, 16 and 17-years-olds, randomly picked Lane then opened fire on the 23-year-old in a drive-by style shooting before leaving him on the side of the road.
Lane was an Australian who came to East Central University in Ada to play baseball. Investigators say he had just returned from back home in Australia with his girlfriend, who lives in Duncan just days before his death.
As for the teen suspects, police say, "Surveillance video from nearby businesses of their speeding getaway car quickly led to their capture. just hours after Lane was shot."
Duncan police say today one of those teen made a full confession saying the trio did it "for the fun of it."
