LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - A series of incidents led to a park ranger firing his gun at Pinnacle Mountain State Park in Little Rock late Tuesday afternoon.
Greg Butts, Director of Arkansas State Parks, said park rangers were patrolling the East Summit Parking Lot due to a rash of car break-ins recently.
"They heard glass break. They noticed a vehicle that had been on camera before in previous break-ins and approached the vehicle," said Butts.
At that time, the three suspects drove off in that vehicle, hitting one of the rangers in the arm. Another ranger fired a shot at the vehicle, then the vehicle crashed into a tree. Two of the suspects inside were arrested and the injured driver ran off. Rangers know the suspect on the run is injured, but it is unclear whether he was shot or injured from the wreck.
Authorities think the running suspect then broke into a nearby state maintenance building and stole a white 2006 Ford F-250 Super Duty pickup truck, with a red Arkansas license plate 226-PSM.
