LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - On Friday Kali Hardig's mother, Traci sent THV 11 News cell phone footage of her daughter playing on her new iPad.
"I noticed the personality is there. It's not that blank look she had at first," said Traci Hardig.
Kali is recovering from Parasitic Meningitis, which she contracted from a local water park. Kali is the third person in the world to survive the infection.
"I would just tell her to sing to me and just make a noise," said Hardig.
Kali can now talk, which is an accomplishment and has taken weeks of therapy. She can sit up on her own and walk with assistance from nurses and her family.
"I just want Kali to know how much people have supported her, and I want parents to know about it (infection)," said Hardig.
Kali's new iPad was delivered to her Thursday by her friends, who raised money to purchase the tablet by selling wristbands.
