NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Wild River Country is taking on a new venture to help bring in some revenue during the off-season.
The water park in North Little Rock is buying a snow machine to make a snow park during the winter. Attractions will include 90-minute snow-tubing sessions, snowman building, a Polar Bear Playground, and a snowball target range. The open section will be called Wild Winter Country.
Wild Winter Country will also include holiday decorations, lights, music, and Santa from Nov. 22 to Dec. 23. Specialty holiday and winter item will also be available for purchase in addition to S'mores and other delicious treats.
"I've been fortunate. Been able to travel to go to a lot of different areas in the country and go snow tubing with my family, my kids, but this is an opportunity to bring it home for kids here in Central Arkansas to actually get that same experience without having to go to Colorado or the East Coast," said Wild River Country vice president of operations Chris Shillcutt.
General admission will be $5.43, which includes Snowball Alley, Polar Bear Playground, Cub Paw Raceway and a Snow Tube Session is $16.29, which is unlimited tubing for 90 minute session on the Slippery Slopes.
Snow is expected to be flying at the park in early November and last until early March. Meanwhile, park goers have three more weekends left this summer to visit Wild River Country.
