SALINE COUNTY, Ark. (KTHV) - Last Thursday, THV 11 reported that 11 people were interested in a now-vacant spot at the Saline County Sheriff's Office: Sheriff.
Around 24 hours later, the list has almost doubled, with more resumes now in the hands of officials.
The open position comes after Sheriff Bruce Pennington announced that he'll be resigning October 1 following a fall-out from a public intoxication arrest at Denton's Trotline in June.
The Saline County Quorum Court will meet Monday night in a closed session to begin reviewing resumes. They hope to make the decision by September 24.
Officials told THV 11's Max Seigle that the person chosen cannot run for sheriff in the next election.
