LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - A 74-year-old man pleaded 'No Contest' Tuesday to hitting and killing a pedestrian last year.

Pulaski County Prosecutor Larry Jegley said Jim Garner pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charge of Negligent Homicide. In August of 2012, he hit and killed 66-year-old Margaret Proctor with his car as she walked along Taylor Loop Road in Little Rock.

Garner reportedly drove onto the grass where Proctor was walking. According to Jegley, Garner said in court he had no recollection of the incident, but was devastated over what happened.

The hearing was reportedly very emotional from both Garner's and Proctor's families. Garner was sentenced to one year probation, had his driver's license suspended, and was fined $2,500.
